Abstract
This article explores the impact that technology has on interpersonal relationships in an organisation. While certain world events, such as COVID-19, have accelerated the use of technologies to support remote work, they might also be driving division and a reduction in human empathy in the workplace. This article specifically calls out the fact that while generative artificial intelligence (GenAI) might offer benefits in productivity, it might also be driving an unintentional negative impact on the interpersonal relationships between employees in an organisation and with the people it partners with and serves. As organisations increasingly integrate GenAI into daily processes, this article examines how these shifts affect operational effectiveness, team cohesion, and the human elements of organisational success.
