Abstract
Incorporating sustainability into operations, particularly in reducing carbon footprints, no longer provides just a strategic advantage; it has become essential. Organisations today face mounting pressure from regulatory bodies, stakeholders, and increasingly eco-conscious consumers (World Economic Forum 2024). The Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) highlights the critical importance of aligning business practices with global climate goals, specifically those limiting global warming to 1.5°C above pre-industrial levels, and related global greenhouse gas emission pathways (Global Warming of 1.5 ºC 2018). This article posits that companies must move beyond basic compliance to achieve long-term resilience and create value in this shifting landscape by focusing on Scope 3 emissions.
