Abstract
The broad management research question of this research is “How to innovate the existing business models of wireless service providers to suit the future wireless technology trends and other environmental trends in telecommunication industry”. Today, wireless service providers have faced an urgent need of re-evaluating their existing business models and innovating their way of doing business continuously in order to face the uncertainties created by both rapidly changing technologies (supply side) and changing consumer demands(demand side). Therefore business model innovation is not and option but it has become an imperative in order to respond to these challenges. Although the industry leaders understand the critical need of business model innovation and the significant benefits of doing so, all of them have faced the most difficult management question of how to do it. Hence this research will benefit wireless industry in two ways. Firstly by clarifying the scope and application of the concepts of business model and business model innovation within the conventional domain of management theories and secondly by proposing a comprehensive framework for business model innovation in wireless industry.
