Personal profile
Research biography
I am an industry professional with over 22 years’ experience in sustainability, ESG, and corporate governance across higher education, corporate, and advisory settings. I have held leadership positions such as Head of Sustainability at Levande, GM - Social Responsibility & ESG Reporting at Evolution Mining, Head of Sustainability at Regis Healthcare, and National Sustainability Manager at KPMG. My work has involved developing and implementing sustainability strategies, governance frameworks, and decarbonisation roadmaps; leading ESG reporting aligned to GRI, TCFD, and SDGs; delivering significant uplift in ESG ratings with agencies such as S&P, MSCI, Sustainalytics, and ISS; and embedding stakeholder engagement programs, Indigenous engagement strategies, and community investment frameworks.
As part of Orka Advisory (my own boutique advisory firm), I have advised and trained organisations globally - including Commonwealth Games Australia, Vinarchy, Petronas, Singtel, Axiata, Societe Generale, Tupras, Richmond Dairies, Governance Institute of Australia and City of Sydney - on ESG integration, reporting, and leadership. My experience spans public speaking (including TEDx), facilitation, and coaching, with over 100 keynote presentations delivered internationally.
My research journey began during my PhD at Macquarie University, where I examined the adoption and limitations of the Triple Bottom Line framework in Asia-Pacific organisations. Since then, I have published extensively in peer-reviewed journals on topics including corporate social responsibility, non-financial reporting, sustainability leadership, and ESG integration.
My research interests sit at the intersection of theory and practice, driven by a commitment to bridging the gap between academic insight and organisational implementation. I have a particular focus on sustainability reporting frameworks (GRI, TCFD, ISSB), corporate governance, stakeholder engagement, and the strategic value of ESG for long-term business resilience. I am passionate about research that is both academically rigorous and practically applicable, enabling organisations to navigate the complexities of sustainability transitions while enhancing performance and accountability.
In addition to my academic publications, I have contributed to industry reports, conference presentations, and advisory work for corporations, NGOs, and government bodies. My teaching integrates this research expertise into MBA and executive programs across institutions including the University of Melbourne, RMIT University, University of Oxford, and the Australian Institute of Business.
