Personal profile

Research biography

I am a marketing education professional with an extensive background in marketing.

I commenced my professional career in the banking and finance sector, having worked in organisations such as the Greater Newcastle Building Society, Bank of America, and Hunter United Credit Union.  In these positions, I worked in customer facing roles, relationship management and Business to Business marketing.

In 1995, my career changed direction and I commenced working in working in the International Office at the University of Newcastle.  This led to a marketing manager’s role with Gradschool.com, which was my first introduction to the online learning environment.  In 2003, I commenced my journey as a marketing education professional, working as a sessional academic at the University of Newcastle (while continuing to work fulltime).

I went on to hold a number of marketing roles including a relationship marketing role for the Industry Scholarships program at the University of Newcastle.  I also held a position as the marketing and sponsorship manager for the Newcastle Jets football club.  During this entire period, I maintained my sessional academic status teaching marketing courses with the University of Newcastle, the Australian Institute of Business and Western Sydney University.  These subjects included Marketing Management, Consumer Behaviour, Services Marketing, Digital Marketing and Integrated Marketing Communications.

I have been working as an Online Learning Facilitator (OLF) for the past four years.  In July 2021, I was invited to join the AIB academic team as an internal OLF.  I am now looking to take this opportunity to embark on my research career.  My particular interest lies in the broad areas of consumer behaviour (attitudes, perceptions), neuromarketing (experiential marketing, association design), the decision-making process and marketing ethics.
